Touch down in Amritsar to a traditional welcome of marigold garlands and head out on a private trip to the stunning Golden Temple, the holiest shrine in the Sikh faith. From Amritsar you’ll head up to Dharamshala, perched in the foothills of the Himalayas. Soak up the atmosphere as you wander amongst red-robed monks, craft stalls and temples housing relics rescued from the Cultural Revolution. While you're here, we can even assist with an application for a private audience with the Dalai Lama (appointments cannot be guaranteed).

Your next destination is the charming heritage village of Pragpur which is well situated for exploring the Kangra Valley before you make for Shimla, to explore the charming, traffic-free old town and sit down to a very special dinner with the descendants of the royal family of Balsan. There’s time for a ride on the famous ‘toy train’ to Kalka, one of the most scenic and evocative railway journeys in the world, before rounding off your trip in relaxed Rishikesh, set in the foothills of the sacred Himalayas.

The Beatles came here in the 60's to learn meditative practice, writing many songs at the Maharishi Mahesh ashram, and it has been a hub for spiritual seekers ever since. Our hotel has been chosen for its proximity to nature, and is an excellent places to find calm after a busy week of sightseeing. It offers yoga and meditation, but we’ve left this part of the trip free of organised activities, meaning you can be as relaxed or as active as you want to be.
